Pennywise est originaire de Hermosa Beach en Californie. Pennywise a été formé en 1988, avec Byron, Fletcher, Jason Mattew Thirsk et Jim. Malheureusement Jason Mattew Thirsk s'est suicidé en 1996. The name Pennywise come from a killer clown who was scaring the little child in a Book from Stephen King. The Pennywise, in the book, morphed the children in their worst fear. To kill the monster, they had to beat their fear. The idea came out from one of their friend that came to a pratice, He just said: "Fuck, You've gotta call your bands Pennywise".
